A citizen of Kazakhstan suspected of involvement in espionage and sabotage activities in the interests of Russia has been detained in Germany. This was reported by Deutsche Welle.
According to reports, the 47-year-old man, arrested on April 28, is suspected of collecting information related to the defense system in Germany and transmitting it to foreign contacts.
According to the prosecution's version, he provided information about important facilities to Russian special services until May 2025. Specifically, photos of government buildings in Berlin, military convoys moving on highways, and official vehicles of officials were sent.
During the investigation, an examination of his smartphone revealed numerous photos and data. Although he primarily photographed objects from open sources, authorities assess this as the collection of military information on the territory of a NATO member state.
Furthermore, it was reported that the suspect attempted to recruit people for potential sabotage actions in Germany and stated that he was "ready for any assignment."
He is currently awaiting a court decision. Investigative authorities are continuing a detailed investigation into the case.
