The Most Expensive Currency Against the Uzbek Soum
As of 2025, the most expensive currency in the world, not only in relation to the Uzbek soum, but also in relation to all other currencies, is the Kuwaiti dinar (KWD).

As of June 23 of this year, 1 Kuwaiti dinar is worth 40,813 soums.

Why is this currency the most expensive?

The Kuwaiti dinar is worth ~3.25 USD to the US dollar (exchange rates may fluctuate slightly).

Kuwait's economy relies on oil exports, and the country is economically stable and has large foreign exchange reserves.

The currency is artificially maintained at a high level (i.e., tightly controlled by the central bank).

For comparison:
- The Bahraini dinar (BHD) is also very expensive: 1 BHD ≈ 2.65 USD.
- Omani Rial (OMR) ≈ 2.60 USD.

However, the US dollar, Euro or British pound sterling, although well-known and widely used, are inferior in nominal value to the Kuwaiti dinar.
