Propane prices have risen 31 percent since the beginning of the month
Since early June, propane gas prices in Uzbekistan have sharply increased
Since the beginning of the current June, the price of liquefied propane gas in Uzbekistan has risen sharply on the commodity exchange, alarming drivers and entrepreneurs. Within a month, this product has increased in wholesale market price by more than 30% — which also inevitably affects economic stability and inflation balance.

31% increase — in just 25 days
According to official data provided by the Uzbek Commodity Exchange, on May 30, 2025, the price of one ton of propane was around 5,120,000 UZS, but by June 24, it had risen to 6,689,000 UZS. According to calculations, this is a 31% increase.

Especially in the last two days, the price went up another 6.6%. Meanwhile, trading volumes slightly decreased: on June 23, 1,853 tons of propane were sold, while on June 24, this figure dropped to 1,502 tons. This indicates high demand but limited supply in the market.

A familiar scenario: the same happened last year
This unexpected price hike is not being observed for the first time. A similar situation occurred in 2024 as well: from June 5 to September 5, the price per ton of propane increased from 5.3 million to 8.9 million UZS — a rise of more than 68%. This development was widely covered by media outlets such as Kun.uz.

Drivers’ question: “Where are the deputies — why are they silent?”
The rise in propane prices has led to dissatisfaction among many drivers and private transport operators. Social media reactions show that the public — especially owners of vehicles powered by gas — are complaining that government agencies still have not given serious attention to the issue. Many are asking: “Where are the deputies — why are they not getting involved?”

Will last year's Antimonopoly Committee measure return?
Last year, after the price nearly doubled, the Committee for the Development of Competition and Protection of Consumer Rights introduced a 20% spread, i.e., a price cap, for propane on the exchange. This was aimed at preventing artificial price increases. Whether such measures will be re-implemented under current conditions — remains an open question.

What are the reasons for the price hike?
According to market analysts, the main reasons for the price increase are as follows:
1. Limited number and production volume of propane producers
2. Increased demand for liquefied gas (especially in the summer)
3. Problems in internal logistics and supply systems
4. Volatile external factors — raw materials, exchange rates, and export-import regulations

Conclusion: how long will this continue?
At the moment, prices are continuing to rise. But no one can say for sure how long this process will last. If government agencies do not take timely and decisive measures, the population and entrepreneurs may come under even greater socio-economic pressure.

In short, the price of propane is not just a product issue — it is a matter of national economic balance, price stability, and citizens’ well-being.
