An interesting analysis was conducted in Uzbekistan regarding the causes and factors of the increase in bread prices. According to the research by the Central Bank, from 2020 to 2025, the prices of bread and flour in Uzbekistan rose due to complex economic factors, particularly due to the increase in production costs for flour.
The prices of first-grade and premium flour increased, leading to a rise in bread prices by 77.6%. In 2022 and 2023, wheat production and flour imports were influenced by various factors, and additional resources such as fuel, electricity, gas, cold water, and transportation services also saw price increases.
Another important factor is the measures taken by farmers and clusters in relation to the sale of flour through exchange trading and measures aimed at price liberalization. Uzbekistan is highly sensitive to changes in global wheat prices, as most of the wheat is imported from Kazakhstan, and these changes have a direct impact.
Environmental factors such as climate change, water scarcity, and soil salinization also negatively affect wheat yields and farmers' incomes. The increase in household incomes and consumption trends is also a significant factor affecting the demand for bread, which in turn influences its price.
As a result, changes in the analysis of bread and flour prices may influence other economic processes and services provided to the population.
