Syria’s new currency will be printed by the Russian joint-stock company “Goznak.” Reuters reported this, citing its own sources.
According to the information, the Syrian pound will remain as the national currency, but due to high inflation, a denomination is planned. That is, two zeros will be removed from the new banknotes.
As the agency writes, at the end of July the Syrian delegation visited Moscow and signed the relevant agreement with “Goznak.” Interestingly, this company had already printed money for Syria during the rule of President Bashar al-Assad.
It should be recalled that in May Reuters reported that Syria was considering printing its national currency not in Russia, but in the UAE or Germany.
