President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced the discovery of huge gas reserves on the Ustyurt Plateau in Karakalpakstan during a meeting with the people on September 15. The Head of State noted that this innovation will be of great importance not only for the industry of our country, but also for the economic prospects of the entire region.
According to the president, Uzbekistan has rich and diverse mineral reserves underground. Previously, exploration and production in the oil and gas sector were carried out mainly at a depth of 2.5-3 thousand meters. However, this year, for the first time in the history of our country's industry, an unprecedented step has been taken - 6.5 thousand meters of gas reserves have been discovered in the Ustyurt region. This marks the beginning of a new era in the field of geology.
The head of state also noted that today technological resources are becoming the main factor in the implementation of the "fourth industrial revolution." In particular, the demand for such minerals as tellurium, lithium, selenium, graphite, and molybdenum is growing sharply worldwide. Based on the analysis, it was recognized that 10-15 percent of the world's most important resources, such as tungsten, molybdenum, zinc, and titanium, are located directly in our region.
As President Mirziyoyev noted, "to transform these enormous resources into products with high added value, it is necessary not only technology or capital, but also, above all, science, knowledge, and innovation." According to him, only through such a path will it be possible to widely and effectively use natural resources and bring the country's development to a new level.
According to experts, these huge gas reserves, discovered on the Ustyurt Plateau, will not only boost the energy sector, but also give a powerful impetus to the entire economic system. Thus, Uzbekistan's prospects in the field of natural resources are expected to expand further.
