The Central Bank published a report on inflation indicators for August 2025, which provides information on many changes in the Uzbek economy. The obtained results indicate a decrease in the overall inflation rate. Inflation, which was 9.8% in 2024, decreased to 8.8% as of August 2025.
Goods and services with decreased prices:
Most importantly, the decrease in inflation mainly affected the prices of new products and services. Prices for certain food products, such as pumpkin (-52.8%), grapes (39.5%), tomatoes (34.7%), rice (-17.8%), and apples (-16.6%), decreased significantly. These changes show good results in economic processes. Nevertheless, prices for carrots (69.1%), onions (40.1%), and cabbage (46.5%) continued to rise.
Increased prices for goods and services:
This report mentions fast-growing goods, such as cottonseed oil (+39.4%), potatoes (+32.0%), and mutton (+28.5%). As a result, the total cost of food products has increased in many cases. In addition, prices for some non-food goods, including propane (-6.1%), paper A4 (-4.6%), and kitchen appliances (-3.3%), decreased.
The record increase in gold prices in the global market was also reflected in jewelry - wedding rings became more expensive by 33.2%.
In the structure of non-food products, the price of methane increased by 31%, newspapers - by 15.3%, gasoline - by 11.1%, toilet soap - by 10.1%, vitamins - by 9.9%.
Changes in the service sector:
In August, fees for money transfers decreased by 0.3%, tuition at non-state universities - by 1.3%, and wired internet - by 1.8%.
In August, the most rapidly rising prices were for service driving courses - during the reporting period, the cost of this service increased by 71.3%. Also, domestic passenger air transport services became more expensive by 59.5%, network gas - by 39.2%, cold water - by 34.1%, waste transportation - by 23.9%, and services of state kindergartens - by 21%.
High inflation items:
Products with an annual price increase of less than 10 percent account for 83 percent of food products, 96 percent of non-food products, and 42 percent of services. The figures show that elements with high inflation have the highest indicator in the service group - 48%.
Measures aimed at reducing inflation in Uzbekistan:
According to the government of Uzbekistan, these processes should become an important factor in controlling inflation in the economy of Uzbekistan. A consistent decrease in prices for goods and services will be achieved only through cooperation in the fight against economic stability and inflation.
