In the first three quarters of this year, private solar power plant owners in Uzbekistan received a total of 153.6 billion soums in subsidies from the state budget. This was reported by the State Tax Committee.
The largest share of financial resources was recorded in the Khorezm region, where 42.6 billion soums in payments were made to households that switched to renewable energy sources. This turned the region into a leader in terms of utilizing allocated budget funds to support "green" energy.
Significant funds were also allocated to the Republic of Karakalpakstan and the Bukhara region, where the amount of subsidies reached 22.4 billion and 15.3 billion soums, respectively. In the capital, Tashkent city, solar panel owners received 10.7 billion soums, while in Tashkent region, they received 8.2 billion soums in subsidies.
The state support mechanism was launched in April 2023, providing for a payment of 1,000 soums for each kilowatt-hour of electricity transferred to the general power grid beyond one's personal consumption. This initiative is part of the "Solar Home" program, aimed at encouraging the population to use alternative energy sources.
To receive payments, citizens need to use the Tax mobile application. Through a special "Solar Home" section, users can transfer the calculated subsidies directly to their bank cards.
