Task set to increase electrical engineering exports to $1 billion

At a meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, economic growth in the first quarter was analyzed, and shortcomings in the industrial and export sectors were reviewed. Specifically, instructions were issued to take disciplinary measures against the khokims of Sergeli and Shaykhontohur districts in Tashkent city, as well as a total of 13 districts in Jizzakh, Qashqadaryo, and other regions that failed to meet industrial forecast targets. Spot.uz reports on this.

In the electrical engineering sector, production growth amounted to 7.8% instead of the expected 11.2% due to low copper processing volumes, while the export plan was fulfilled by only 57%.

The head of state tasked officials with resolving problems at enterprises on-site and increasing electrical engineering production to 25 trillion soums and exports to $1 billion by the end of the second quarter.

The meeting also paid special attention to the issue of increasing labor productivity. Mirziyoyev criticized associations in driver industries such as textiles, furniture manufacturing, and construction materials for failing to popularize international best practices.

The Ministry of Economy and Finance was instructed to attract a $30 million grant to implement a program for increasing efficiency across 100 enterprises.

Leaders of cities such as Jizzakh, Navoiy, Namangan, and several districts where export indicators were below 70%, were issued warnings. It was announced that if there are no positive changes by the end of the first half of the year, strict measures will be taken against these district khokims.

Additionally, the necessity of creating an integrated system to find new markets and resolve logistics issues was emphasized.
