Why do people dream and what are their secrets?

Every person dreams at least once in their life. Some perceive this phenomenon as a simple biological process, while others interpret it as a strange and mysterious miracle of nature. For centuries, dreams have been the focus of people's attention, and different cultures and religions have interpreted them differently.

But what are dreams and why do people see them? Scientific research is trying to find answers to these questions. Specialists are studying the nature of dreams, the reasons for their occurrence, and their psychological and biological significance.

The scientific basis of dreams

Usually, dream sleep occurs during the REM (Rapid Eye Movement) phase. This stage is considered a deep state of sleep, during which brain activity approaches a practically waking state. In the REM phase, the eyes move more frequently, the heartbeat and breathing increase. At this moment, strange scenes and events appear in a person's consciousness.

Neurologists and psychologists have different approaches to the essence of dreams. For example, Sigmund Freud interpreted dreams as an echo of a person's subconscious desires and fears. Carl Jung believed that dreams originate from the general, collective part of the human psyche.

Modern science shows that the main function of dreams is to help the brain process memories and emotions.
