In Tashkent, taxi driver Farhod Fattoev faced an unusual situation, Podrobno.uz reports. His passenger – a pregnant woman – gave birth to her baby right in the car while on the way to the maternity hospital.
Farhod has been driving for 14 years, with the last two years working for Yandex Go. That day, he accepted a regular order, but soon after, he received a call: his passenger was a pregnant woman who urgently needed to get to the hospital.
The taxi arrived in a few minutes, and the woman got into the car along with her mother-in-law. The journey was supposed to take about 35 minutes, but due to traffic jams, it was delayed. Shortly after the trip started, something unexpected happened – the cry of a newborn was heard from the back seat.
"I didn’t panic. Instead, I focused on getting to the hospital as quickly as possible. The only thing on my mind was making sure the baby and mother were safe," recalls the driver.
On the road, Farhod spotted traffic police officers, explained the situation, and they agreed to escort the taxi. However, heavy traffic soon forced him to continue on his own. Despite the obstacles, he managed to reach the hospital in just 20 minutes.
"When we finally arrived at the maternity hospital, and I was told that both the mother and baby were fine, I felt a huge relief. I couldn't hold back my tears of joy," said Farhod.
He added that the woman’s husband and relatives were waiting at the hospital and expressed their gratitude to him. "Later, I heard the baby’s grandmother praying for me. I told her that this child would be her most beloved grandchild. The most important thing is that everything ended well," the taxi driver shared.
Farhod doesn’t consider himself a hero and believes that anyone in his place would have done the same. His colleagues were amazed by the story, and since then, his car has been nicknamed "Ambulance." Yandex Uzbekistan also recognized his efforts and expressed their appreciation.
Originally from Bukhara, Farhod has a big and loving family – a wife and five children, who have every reason to be proud of him.
