Weddings and ceremonies in Uzbekistan will be regulated by presidential decree

Weddings and ceremonies in Uzbekistan will be regulated by presidential decree
A new project is being prepared to regulate the procedure for holding wedding ceremonies in Uzbekistan. This was reported in the plan of regulatory legal acts approved by the Presidential Decree "On measures to effectively organize the implementation of the established priority tasks to further improve the anti-corruption system."

According to the document, by August of this year, it is planned to adopt a special joint resolution by the councils of the chambers of parliament to regulate the holding of weddings, family holidays, various celebrations and other ceremonies in our country.

At the same time, new mechanisms will be developed aimed at forming a culture of thrift among the younger generation. The Oliy Majlis chambers, the Ministry of Culture, the Committee on Family and Women, and the Committee on Religious Affairs were designated as responsible for the implementation of this project.

It is worth recalling that at a videoconference meeting held in March 2018, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev sharply criticized lavish weddings and strictly forbade state officials from attending excessively lavish weddings.

“Let everyone have the same, simple weddings. If any leader — be it a prosecutor, a tax inspector, a governor, or a border guard — violates the established norms, I will arrest them on the same day. Where does a minister or deputy prime minister find the funds to hold a lavish wedding for 500 people? There is theft behind this money, and if we investigate everything, it turns out to be theft!”, - said the head of state.

This new project is expected to play an important role in further improving the culture of holding weddings and ceremonies in Uzbekistan and putting an end to waste.
