Alimony dodger jumps into well to escape bailiffs

In the Yukorichirchik district of Tashkent region, a man who had been evading alimony payments jumped into a well in fear of bailiffs, Nova24.uz reported.

Reportedly, the local resident had long avoided paying alimony to his former wife, who has been raising their child alone.

When officers from the Bureau of Compulsory Execution came to his house, the man attempted to hide by jumping into a well. But his plan failed — he was found, pulled out, and taken into custody.

The court sentenced him to five days of administrative arrest for failing to fulfill child-rearing duties. Authorities are also separately addressing the issue of unpaid alimony.
