3 people died from gas poisoning while cleaning a well in Sirdarya
On May 22, 2025, three people died while cleaning a well in the "Dustlik" neighborhood of Sayxunobod district, Sirdarya region, according to NOVA24.

A 67-year-old man descended 5 meters into the well to clean it but lost consciousness due to toxic gas. His 39-year-old son and 46-year-old neighbor went down to rescue him, but they too were poisoned and died.

Two more acquaintances, aged 25 and 49, also entered the well and lost consciousness. Rescuers retrieved the bodies of the three deceased, while the other two were hospitalized.

An official investigation into the incident has been launched.
