
A tour company employee in Sirdarya region has been arrested for promising two residents of Bayaud district an illegal trip to Saudi Arabia for $12,800, reports NOVA24.uz.
An investigation revealed that he and two colleagues ran a fraudulent scheme, posing as pilgrimage organizers while pocketing the money. A criminal case was opened under Article 168, Part 3(a) — large-scale fraud.
In a separate case in Margilan, a 39-year-old man was caught accepting $11,000 for a similar fake Hajj trip. He was arrested on the spot, and another fraud case was opened.
