
In Samarkand region, two women attempted to sell a 15-year-old boy for 50 million UZS, reports the regional police department, according to nova24.uz.
The incident occurred in Kattakurgan district. A woman informed police that two citizens planned to sell a teenager and provided audio proof of the negotiation.
On June 11, the suspects — including the boy’s biological aunt — were caught red-handed while receiving 20 million UZS.
It was revealed that the boy lived in a SOS Children’s Village, a shelter for orphans and at-risk youth.
A criminal case has been opened under Article 135, part 3 (Human trafficking). The offenders face up to 15 years in prison. The investigation is ongoing.
