Car accident in Tajikistan: 2 Uzbeks and 5 others killed
A heavy and horrific road traffic accident occurred in Tajikistan, claiming the lives of two citizens of Uzbekistan. In a major collision involving three vehicles, a total of seven people were killed, and among the deceased were children. This was reported by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Tajikistan.

The tragedy took place on June 28, 2025, at the 332nd kilometer of the international significance road Dushanbe–Khujand–Chanak, near the village of Dadaboy Kholmatov. According to preliminary information, the accident began with the loss of control by the driver of a Volkswagen vehicle. He collided with a Toyota Corolla traveling in the same direction, and as a result of the collision, veered into the oncoming lane. There, he crashed into another Mercedes‑Benz vehicle.

As a result of the accident, the driver of the Volkswagen, a citizen of Uzbekistan, and his passenger suffered severe injuries and died at the scene. Additionally, the driver of the Mercedes and his four passengers, including two young children, were also killed.

The total number of fatalities reached seven. Three more people—the Toyota driver, his underage passenger, and another person in the Volkswagen—were seriously injured and hospitalized. They are receiving medical assistance, and their condition is under close monitoring.

At present, the law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Tajikistan have initiated a criminal case regarding the incident. An investigation is underway into the causes of the accident, technical conditions of the vehicles, drivers’ speed, and possible rule violations. Special examination is being made into the circumstances under which the Volkswagen driver lost control.

Technical condition of the vehicles, road conditions, weather factors, and other environmental influences are also being analyzed. The government bodies of Tajikistan and relevant international cooperation structures, together with Uzbekistan, are considering issues of identifying the deceased and repatriating their bodies to their homeland.

It should be noted that such tragedies have occurred frequently in recent times. A similar road‑traffic accident was recently recorded in Russia, in which a family of Uzbek citizens died. Only one child survived and was returned to the homeland to be handed over to an aunt.

The latest car accident in Tajikistan has caused grief not only among citizens of the two countries but also among the entire region’s population. Such tragedies once again demonstrate how fragile and unpredictable human life is. It is again emphasized that drivers must strictly adhere to traffic laws, maintain constant monitoring of vehicles’ technical condition, and increase caution while driving.

The public has been informed that once all investigative proceedings are completed, full official information will be released. For now, there is nothing to do but offer condolences and support to the families of the deceased.
