Two young men who set off from Samarkand as passengers committed an act that has become a topic of national discussion. Not only did they steal a car, but they also stabbed a police officer who tried to stop them and went on to hijack another vehicle.
The incident took place on August 2, 2025. F.Sh. and F.Kh., both 18 years old and residents of Khojaabad district in the Andijan region, boarded a Cobalt as passengers with the intention of reaching Namangan from Samarkand. In the Syrdarya region, while the driver stopped to use the restroom, they hijacked the car.
Shortly afterward, a report of the theft was received by the 102 service of the Syrdarya Regional Department of Internal Affairs. All police posts and traffic patrol inspectors were alerted. However, the young men removed the license plates and tried to hide their tracks.
At a checkpoint in the Bukinsky district, a traffic inspector stopped the Cobalt. However, after showing documents, the driver suddenly drove off through the second, closed lane in an unexpected direction.
The worst happened when an officer of the Bukinsky District Criminal Investigation Department, N.Sh., tried to stop them. One of the youths stabbed him in the neck with a knife. They then abandoned the Cobalt and drove off in the officer’s Matiz.
Their actions didn't stop there — in the Ohangaron district of Tashkent region, traffic inspector Kh.D. signaled them to stop. However, they ignored him and struck him with the car. The inspector was injured and taken to the hospital.
As a result of swift investigative operations, the suspects were apprehended in the city of Ohangaron.
Currently, a criminal case has been initiated against them under Article 267 of the Criminal Code — vehicle theft — along with additional charges. According to the law, this crime carries a punishment of 5 to 20 years of imprisonment.
This incident urges the public to remain vigilant and take safety seriously. It is not just about stealing a car — it is an example of dangerous and reckless behavior.
