In Andijon region’s Izboskan district, disciplinary action was taken against six staff members of the Temporary Detention Facility (TDF).
According to the press office of the Ombudsman (Human Rights Representative to the Oliy Majlis), these measures were imposed following a review of conditions at the TDF conducted in March this year.
It was found that the facility had serious deficiencies: unsanitary conditions, lack of material and technical support, problems with the sewage system, and cases of detainees being forced into labor.
The Ombudsman requested that the regional police department address these shortcomings and prevent recurrence.
Following monitoring results, six employees underwent internal investigation and disciplinary sanctions: one staff member was submitted to the Disciplinary Council, two received reprimands, two received warnings with salary deductions. The head of the facility was dismissed at his own request.
“Remedial work to address identified deficiencies has begun, and the Ombudsman’s office will maintain constant oversight until full resolution,” the statement added.
