A large-scale counterfeit currency operation was stopped in Fergana region. During a special operation, a young man was caught red-handed while trying to sell fake banknotes worth 50 million sums for just 8 million genuine sums. Law enforcement officers confiscated the counterfeit money as physical evidence.
During the investigation, a total of 315.5 million sums in various fake banknotes and counterfeit $100 bills totaling $120,000 were found in his possession. It was revealed that the seized money had been prepared for illegal circulation.
According to the investigation, the suspect planned to make quick profits by selling counterfeit money at a low price. However, his activities came under the surveillance of special services and were exposed ahead of time.
A criminal case has been opened under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code. Investigators are working to identify the source of the counterfeit money and other members of the criminal network. Authorities urge citizens to carefully check large banknotes when handling cash transactions.
