On September 16, Uzbekistan’s Legislative Chamber approved the second reading of a bill aimed at improving the system for protecting children from violence, Uz24.uz reported.
The bill introduces amendments to the Criminal and Administrative Codes. Possession of pornographic materials involving minors will be punishable. Penalties for online or other forms of sexual violence against children will also be toughened.
The reforms prioritize children’s psychological safety. During investigations, minors who are victims or witnesses must have their legal guardians present, and interrogation time will be limited.
