A man in the Andijan region was detained for blackmailing a woman and demanding money. This was reported by the regional Department of Internal Affairs press service.
According to the information, a man living in the Shahrihon district had an intimate relationship with a woman from the same area. After some time, he demanded a certain amount of money from her, threatening to publish their private messages, photos, and videos on social networks if she refused.
During an operational event organized by law enforcement officers, the man was caught red-handed while receiving the requested money. Physical evidence — cash and a mobile phone — was seized from him.
According to the investigation, he attempted to gain material benefit through blackmail by threatening to disgrace the woman. Based on this, a criminal case was initiated against him under Part 1, Article 165 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan (extortion) by the Shahrihon District Police Department.
Currently, investigative actions are ongoing against the accused. Law enforcement authorities urge citizens not to share personal information with untrustworthy individuals and to immediately contact the police if such situations occur.
Experts also emphasize that blackmail and extortion are not only crimes but also gross violations of personal privacy.
