A citizen of Uzbekistan was imprisoned for tearing his passport and participating in the Russian war

A 40-year-old citizen of Uzbekistan was brought to criminal responsibility for participating in armed conflicts on the side of Russia in the war in Ukraine. His case was heard on September 24 of this year in the Gallyaaral District Court of the Jizzakh region.

As it turned out, B.M. went to Russia for work in May 2023 and later signed a contract with a military unit in Tolyatti, where he participated in the battles in Luhansk and Donetsk from June 10, 2023 to June 11, 2024.

He tore up his passport to hide his military service and obtained Russian citizenship without applying anywhere to withdraw from citizenship. The court found him guilty and sentenced him to 3 years in prison on the grounds of Article 154 and Article 227 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan.
