
61 kilograms and 121 grams of gold hidden inside dough and meat grinders were found during an operation at Turkey's Cappadocia airport, Uz24.uz reported. Six people related to the incident were detained, five of whom were identified as Uzbek citizens.
Officers of the police department for combating smuggling and organized crime conducted an inspection at the airport based on received information. The luggage of six individuals who arrived by plane was scanned, and the dough and meat grinders were found to be suspicious.
61 kilograms and 121 grams of 24-carat gold were discovered in the devices. The market value of the gold is estimated at approximately 350 million Turkish lira (that is, 11 million dollars or 1.37 trillion soums).
Currently, the gold smuggled in has been confiscated, and after questioning by the police, the six suspects have been sent to court. Turkish law enforcement agencies have opened a criminal case regarding the incident.
