An astonishing case related to housing rent has been revealed in the capital, according to the State Tax Committee.
According to the data, monitoring conducted through the “E-ijara” electronic system revealed that 35 people were registered in a residential property with an area of only 24 square meters. Calculations showed that each person had just 0.7 square meters — even smaller than the surface of a writing desk.
The analysis found that the apartment owner had signed an official rental agreement with two students, allocating only 0.5 square meters each and charging them 1.5 million soums per month. Later, another 33 people were additionally registered at the same address.
The tax authority reminded that, according to existing social standards, the minimum living space per person should be at least 16 square meters. It emphasized the importance of complying with established norms when renting out housing and ensuring decent living conditions for tenants.
Experts described this incident as a clear example of problems in the housing market and a lack of proper oversight.
