Tashkent becomes the new center for women’s rights and equality

Today, November 12, a significant dialogue began in Tashkent with the participation of leading women from Central Asian countries. This event marks an important step not only in the region’s social life but also in strengthening gender equality worldwide.

The forum is held as a continuation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action adopted 30 years ago. At that time, 189 countries defined a shared roadmap for protecting women’s rights, expanding their opportunities, and ensuring equality. Three decades later, these principles remain highly relevant.

Now, Tashkent is emerging as a new hub for advancing these ideas. In recent years, Uzbekistan has become a regional leader in empowering women and strengthening their role in society.

Recent reforms clearly demonstrate this:

  • The Gender Equality Strategy until 2030 has been adopted;

  • Thousands of women across regions have entered entrepreneurship;

  • University quotas for girls have been expanded;

  • The legal protection system against violence has been reinforced.

This dialogue in Tashkent is not a mere formal meeting — it’s a vital platform where women can make their voices heard, where new ideas and opportunities arise. Here, discussions shape not just policies but the direction for future generations.

The Central Asian Women’s Declaration, to be adopted after the event, will serve as a roadmap for advancing gender equality across the region.

Today, Uzbekistan stands not only as the host country but also as a nation that values women’s strength, talent, and voice. The Tashkent meeting symbolizes a new national identity — an Uzbekistan striving for progress through the power of women.
