In Surkhandarya, a family dispute that began around lunch ended in a severe tragedy. According to the press secretary of the Supreme Court, Aziz Obidov, a 71-year-old man stabbed his wife to death because she had not prepared food.
The incident occurred on September 15 in the Sariosiyo district. The man complained that there was no food at home, and the woman responded that he never helped with housework at all. After that, the argument escalated sharply: the man took a kitchen knife and delivered two blows to his wife, who was standing in the yard. The injuries damaged the heart and lungs, and the woman died at the scene.
In court, the man admitted his guilt and said that the cause of the tragedy was the “constant misunderstandings” in their family. It was also revealed that the victim had been suffering from chronic kidney disease since 2024 and was a Group I disabled person. Despite her serious condition, the man had been regularly insulting her.
The court assessed the incident as intentional murder and sentenced the perpetrator to 10 years of imprisonment in a general-regime colony.
