Thief caught robbing cars with scissors in Kuylyk

A man who stole a large amount of money from several cars in the Bektemir district of Tashkent has been detained. The city Department of Internal Affairs reported the incident.

First, the suspect opened a Nexia-2 parked near the Kuyliq farmers’ market using scissors, searched the interior and the trunk, and reportedly found almost 76 million soums. After taking the money, he fled the scene.

According to the suspect, while observing the surroundings, he saw the car owner taking and carrying away a large sum of money, realized that the car had no alarm system, and used the situation to his advantage.

Some time later, he returned to the same area and this time opened a Cobalt that had been left unlocked, stealing 17 million soums from the interior. The car owner, who was talking on the phone and had not locked the vehicle, once again created an opportunity for the suspect.

After these incidents, when he returned to the Bektemir district with the intention of committing another crime, he was detained during an operative event.

A criminal case has been initiated under Article 169 of the Criminal Code — “Theft.” A pre-trial detention measure has been applied to the suspect. The investigation is ongoing.
