Large quantities of medicines and medical devices illegally imported from Russia into Uzbekistan were discovered and confiscated. This was reported by the State Security Service.
During a joint operation conducted by the State Security Service Border Troops and customs authorities, a train traveling on the Volgograd-Tashkent route was stopped and inspected at the Karakalpakstan-Railway checkpoint.
In the 7th car of the train, an observer from Samarkand, born in 1981, discovered 2,742 pieces of 30 types of dental products and equipment worth 913 million soums, hidden in an air circulation shaft.
It was also revealed that a resident of Tashkent, born in 1976, was smuggling 894 units of 12 types of medicines and medical equipment worth 1.5 billion soums from customs control.
It turned out that the observers planned to deliver these products to the city of Tashkent in exchange for material benefits. Currently, an investigation is underway in connection with these circumstances.
