A traffic police inspector who extorted money by threatening with a breathalyzer was exposed

In Jizzakh region, instead of ensuring road traffic safety, YPX officers who frightened drivers with a breathalyzer and engaged in illegal extortion of money were detained. This was reported by the press service of the regional Department of Internal Affairs.

It is reported that a YPX inspector serving in G‘allaorol district stopped a Lacetti vehicle and checked the driver using a breathalyzer. Despite the driver saying that he had not consumed alcoholic drinks, the inspector took him into the service room and demanded 1 million soums in exchange for not processing documents and not taking measures. The driver, unable to reach an agreement, transferred 500 thousand soums to the plastic bank card provided by the officer.

During inspections it became known that this inspector had previously committed similar acts. He misled drivers by saying that the breathalyzer could also “detect” alcohol consumed during the last 72 hours. In some cases, money was taken through a plastic card belonging to his acquaintance.

During оператив measures it was found that the owner of this card is a resident of the “Baxt” mahalla of G‘allaorol district, a worker at the penalty yard, and that he is connected with the inspector.

In addition, in the same region a YPX inspector and a senior inspector of the search unit of the Road Traffic Safety Department were also exposed for extortion. They illegally helped to remove a Gentra vehicle from the penalty yard for 1 million 300 thousand soums. It was also reported that they, for 500 thousand soums, helped to remove a Nexia vehicle that was being held due to debt.

A service inspection was conducted on the above cases, and all materials were sent to the prosecutor’s office. As a result, a criminal case was initiated against three officers under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code.

The fact that some officials, who should protect the law, sell their oath for money is causing sharp discussions in society. Responsible agencies emphasize that they will take an uncompromising stance toward such cases.
