The range of amenities for foreign tourists is expanding in Uzbekistan. Starting from April 1, 2026, a Value Added Tax (VAT) refund system for foreign citizens will be fully implemented at all international airports in the country. This innovation is expected to make the shopping process more attractive for guests visiting our country.
According to the new procedure, foreigners will be able to receive a VAT refund for purchased goods in cash or on a bank card. 85% of the payment is returned to the tourist, while the remaining 15% is directed to the service operator. Transfers to a bank card are carried out within three working days after the goods are taken out of the country.
Also, a minimum purchase value of 300,000 soums has been set to use the system. Another important change is the removal of restrictions on the list of goods covered by the tax-free system. Now, with the exception of food products, this benefit will be available for all types of goods. This is an important step towards increasing Uzbekistan's tourism potential and implementing international standards.
