Law enforcement officers in the Yangikurgan district of the Namangan region have initiated a criminal case against a 53-year-old school teacher. The educator is suspected of committing sexual violence against a 13-year-old female student who attends the same school. Reports Podrobno.uz.
According to the regional department of preschool and school education and the Children's Ombudsman, the investigation began after the victim's father filed a formal complaint with the police on March 28. The father reported that the teacher had abused his daughter, who is currently in the sixth grade.
The suspect has been officially detained, and a local court has ordered his pre-trial imprisonment. Investigators have launched proceedings under the relevant article of the Criminal Code concerning the violent satisfaction of sexual needs involving a person under the age of 14.
The Children's Ombudsman of Uzbekistan has taken personal control of the situation to ensure the procedural rights of the affected child are fully protected.
In a related context, the Angren city criminal court recently sentenced four individuals for the gang rape and repeated abuse of another minor. Due to the severity of the crimes and the need to protect the victim's identity, those hearings were held behind closed doors.
