Uzbekistan has simplified the procedure for duty-free import of biologically active dietary supplements for individuals. The changes were introduced by a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers.
Under the new rules, individuals may bring in up to 10 types of dietary supplements from abroad without paying customs duties, provided each type is in its original packaging and limited to one package per item. The total weight must not exceed 3 kg.
Previously, import limits depended on the form of the supplement. For instance, tablets or capsules could be brought in quantities of up to 100 units, while powdered forms were limited to 0.5 kg.
However, in cases where the quantity in a single package exceeded the established limit, there was no clear procedure in place, which led to misunderstandings in practice.
The new amendments have eliminated this uncertainty. In addition, the preferences and needs of the population were taken into account when setting the updated norms.
