New system to improve quality of life for the elderly to be introduced in the capital

The Center for Gerontology and Longevity has officially opened in Tashkent to improve the quality of life for the elderly and promote a culture of active aging. Established at the Tashkent branch of the Herzen State Pedagogical University with support from the National Agency for Social Protection, the center focuses on developing social programs, conducting scientific research, and training specialists in the field. The facility currently operates over ten departments and collaborates with leading scientific institutions in St. Petersburg to implement modern educational technologies. Furthermore, the university plans to expand its academic offerings by 2026, introducing new degree programs in areas such as adaptive sports, artificial intelligence, and rehabilitation.

One of the main directions of the center's activities is training specialists in the field, implementing modern educational approaches, and expanding scientific research in gerontology. The project was established at the Tashkent branch of the Herzen Russian State Pedagogical University with the support of the National Social Protection Agency under the President of Uzbekistan.

Currently, the institution has more than ten departments, including the Institute for the Development of Information and Educational Technologies and a fund of gerontological materials. The university has established cooperation with leading scientific centers in St. Petersburg.

At the same time, the branch plans to expand its educational programs starting from the 2026–2027 academic year. Bachelor's degrees will be offered in technological education, foreign languages, adaptive sports, artificial intelligence, and advertising. Master's degrees will train personnel in rehabilitation of persons with disabilities and educational quality management.
