Meta to lay off 8,000 employees due to AI costs

The company expects to spend $135 billion on AI development this year alone, with CEO Mark Zuckerberg stating that the technology now allows smaller teams to handle projects that previously required much larger groups. In addition to the job cuts, Meta will cancel thousands of open vacancies as part of a broader restructuring that has seen tens of thousands of positions eliminated since 2022. Company founder Mark Zuckerberg emphasized that artificial intelligence helps increase employee productivity. According to him, one person can now carry out projects that previously required a large team. Zuckerberg predicts that 2026 will be a period that fundamentally transforms AI work processes.
