Fenerbahçe head coach Jose Mourinho has been banned for four matches for comments he made after the 25th round of the Turkish Super League against Galatasaray (0:0), Sky TG24 reports.
According to the source, the 62-year-old Portuguese specialist received a two-match ban for racist remarks and a two-match ban for insulting the fourth official in the match.
As a result, Mourinho will miss Fenerbahçe's four Turkish Super League matches against Antalyaspor, Samsunspor, Bodrum and Trabzonspor.
According to the Turkish Football Federation, Mourinho was fined 117,000 liras for insulting the referees and 1,500,000 liras for his remarks against the opposing team.
It should be recalled that after the match with Galatasaray, Mourinho stated that the opposing team's reserve players and coaching staff "behaved like monkeys."
Galatasaray considered these remarks racist, and the club's official statement stated: "Mourinho's remarks against the Turkish people are far from humane."
Fenerbahce fully supports Mourinho, stressing that these statements were taken out of context. At the same time, it is said that Mourinho himself may sue Galatasaray for defamation.
For information, Mourinho's suspension only applies to the Turkish Super League, where he can manage Fenerbahce's crucial Europa League match against Rangers. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
