Two of Moscow's strongest clubs, CSKA and Dynamo, clashed in the semi-finals of the Russian Cup.
The first match, hosted by the Army, was a tense and uncompromising affair. The match opened in the 50th minute. Sekou Koita finished off a brilliant goal by his teammate Abbasbek Fayzullayev.
Dynamo's response was swift. Eight minutes later, Dmitry Skopintsev equalized with a powerful shot.
In the 63rd minute, the hosts took the lead again after a header by Matvey Kislyak and secured the victory.
After the match, the head coaches of both teams commented on the match, and also recognized the performance of Abbasbek Fayzullaev, who was one of the heroes of the match.
Marcel Lichka, head coach of Dynamo Moscow:
If the opponent scored one more goal than us, then they deserved to win. If Abbasbek Fayzullaev, Miralem Pjanic, Matvey Kislyak, Ivan Oblyakov play in the center of the field, it will be difficult for any team to face them.
We were able to show character and team spirit. If we had acted more boldly in the front line, we would have scored the second goal. The return match will be on our field. Currently, CSKA's chance of advancing to the next round is 51 percent, and ours is 49 percent.
Marko Nikolic, head coach of CSKA:
We treat every match like a final. Teams become stronger with a series of victories, this is how champions play. Based on this, our goal is only to win.
As I said before, we do not have a starting lineup of 11 players. This is my desire, it is done this way for the competition. We have about 20 players who are equal to each other. I analyze the game of my team and the opponent, and make decisions based on the physical condition of the players.
They say that it is difficult for Abbasbek Fayzullaev in the new “rhombus” style of play. I see it differently. Fayzullaev played almost as a striker and scored three goals. If we are patient, he will be able to score more goals in his new position and his number of assists will also increase.
I want my team to control the game more, to keep the pace in the middle of the field. We need to continue to play in this style and get stronger and stronger.
It is worth noting that Abbasbek Fayzullaev played 26 matches in the Russian Premier League and the national cup this season, scoring three goals and providing seven assists for his teammates.
The second leg of the Russian Cup semi-final will be played on April 16 at Dynamo. A draw in the upcoming match will be enough for the Army team to advance to the next round. Follow “Zamin” news on “Telegram”
