In recent years, the MLS championship, featuring clubs from the USA and Canada, has been rapidly developing. Today, this competition occupies a significant place in world football, becoming an attractive destination for many European stars. The main reason for the league's growing popularity is the increasing number of renowned European footballers.
The current season has been tough for one of Canada's most famous clubs – Toronto. In the first eight championship matches, the team hasn't secured a single win. Four matches ended in draws, and another four ended in losses. Under these circumstances, the club's fans are eagerly awaiting new transfers that could help improve the situation.
So far, Toronto has made only one permanent transfer – defender Zane Monlouis, trained in London Arsenal's youth team. Other new players – Theo Corbeanu (Granada), Maxim Dominguez (Vasco da Gama), and Ola Brynhildsen (Midtjylland) – have been signed on loan and have not yet met expectations.
Two well-known European stars, Italians Federico Bernardeschi and Lorenzo Insigne, are also playing for the team. However, their contribution has not yet met the club's expectations.
Toronto management decided to strengthen their attacking line. For this purpose, the club is considering several candidates. Interestingly, among them is Uzbek international Eldor Shomurodov, one of Roma's key players. The club is also keeping an eye on famous Spanish forward Suso from Sevilla.
Toronto head coach Robin Fraser clarified the situation:
"Currently, there are no specific agreements or negotiations regarding new transfers. Such big transfers take time. We will revisit this issue during the summer transfer window."
Note that the second transfer window in MLS opens on July 24 and lasts until August 21.
It's worth noting that Eldor Shomurodov has long attracted interest from overseas clubs. Last year, the American club Atlanta United came close to acquiring the Uzbek player, but the transfer did not materialize.
Currently, Eldor Shomurodov is performing excellently at Roma, whose management has extended his contract until 2027. However, new interesting proposals for the Uzbek striker are expected this summer. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
