Chelsea winger Reece James has spoken out about his side's defeat to Legia Warsaw in the Conference League.
The Londoners won the first leg 3-0, but lost the second leg 2-1 at home.
"We were leading 3-0, so maybe that's why we relaxed. Maybe we didn't show enough respect for the tournament. In that case, we deserve punishment," James said.
Not a step back, but a lesson learned
“We will continue to move forward. I don’t consider it a step back, but it can’t help but affect the mood. Such defeats stick in the mind, I understand the fans - it was hard to see us today,” he added.
James’s admission shows that there was a discussion of mutual responsibility and emotional state within the team.
