After the match between Pakhtakor and Shurtan, which took place as part of the 7th round of the Uzbekistan Super League, the head coach of the hosts, Pedro Moreira, shared his detailed thoughts about the game.
"We entered the match well-prepared. In the first half, we mainly focused on attacking and acted much more actively compared to the opponent. As a result, we managed to create many goal-scoring opportunities. At the same time, we succeeded in neutralizing the dangerous and strong aspects of the opponent. Winning today’s match was very important for us. Therefore, one of our main tasks was to maintain the players' enthusiasm and mood towards the game," said Moreira.
The Portuguese specialist also specifically touched on how the team acted after being reduced to ten men:
"When our team was reduced by one player, naturally, our main focus shifted to the defensive line, trying not to allow the opponent to threaten us. The team fulfilled this task well and managed to prevent the opponent from approaching our goal. During the match, we hardly gave the opponent any clear opportunities."
At the same time, Moreira admitted that while using the free spaces created by the opponent, there was a chance to score even more goals, but there were shortcomings in converting chances:
"We had the opportunity to increase the number of goals by effectively using the free spaces created by the opponent. Unfortunately, we could not fully turn these opportunities into goals. Nevertheless, as in the important match in Fergana in the previous round and today’s match, we achieved a difficult but important victory," concluded the head coach of Pakhtakor.
It should be noted that Pedro Moreira’s pupils are aiming to continue achieving successful results in the next rounds of the Super League and to remain among the main contenders for the championship. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
