Igor Sergeev: "The score was big, but victory did not come easy for us"

In the 9th round of the Uzbekistan Super League, Tashkent's "Pakhtakor" hosted "Bukhara" at home and secured a significant 6:0 victory. After the match, the experienced striker of the "Lions," Igor Sergeev, shared his thoughts about the game and his impressions of the match.

"Although the score appears quite large, the match was intense and competitive. Today, "Bukhara" showed good resistance and fought seriously on the field. No opponent promises an easy game, and today's match clearly confirmed this. Nothing was given to us easily; we had to exert our utmost strength to achieve victory. Thank God, we succeeded," said the 32-year-old player.

Sergeev expressed satisfaction that the team did not become complacent at any point during the match, continuing to play selflessly until the final minutes:

"I want to express my gratitude to my teammates as well. Even when the score was 2:0 or 3:0, they did not relax; on the contrary, they wanted to score goals and achieve an even better result in every minute of the game. I also want to give special thanks to our fans. They are always with us, and their support makes us stronger."

At the same time, the experienced striker expressed respect towards the defeated "Bukhara" club, wishing them success in the future:

"I also wish the 'Bukhara' team never to lose heart. Such results can happen in football and life. I sincerely and wholeheartedly wish them all the best. I hope luck will be on their side in future matches."

In response to journalists’ questions about structural changes in the team, Sergeev emphasized his professional approach, stating that such decisions are not within the scope of players' duties:

"I cannot precisely say what caused the changes in the team. I am a player whose job is to go out on the field and play; I have no right to discuss or evaluate such matters. Answering such questions, in my opinion, is the responsibility of the head coach or the club's management."
