Fayzullaev: Scouts came to see another defender and took Khusanov away

Although there have been several important transfers in Uzbek football, Abdukodir Khusanov’s direct move from “Lens” to a global giant like “Manchester City” is rightly regarded as a historic event. This transfer was noted as the largest financial deal not only for Uzbekistan, but also for the French club “Lens”—the English club paid 40 million euros for the young defender.

To achieve such a major step, Abduqodir went through a path of great hard work and patience. His challenging journey in world football began at the “Bunyodkor” academy, after which he started his professional career at Belarus’s “Energetik-BGU” club. Later, the French Ligue 1 team “Lens” acquired him for 100,000 euros. Soon after, Khusanov managed to prove himself on the European stage.

According to him, during the U-20 World Cup match against Argentina, scouts were actually watching another player, but it was Khusanov’s performance that amazed them. Currently, Abbosbek Fayzullaev himself is also a talented player aspiring to Europe. In 2023, moving from “Pakhtakor” to CSKA (Moscow), the footballer had a very successful debut season in the Russian Premier League. His achievements were marked with bronze medals in the Russian Cup and Championship.

European giants continue to follow Fayzullaev closely.
