Europe is bored with Eldor, now the Turks are lining up
Around Uzbekistan national team captain and the main scorer who secured the 2026 World Cup ticket, Eldor Shomurodov, new transfer rumors have started with the summer season. The future of the Uzbek forward, who plays for Italian club Roma, is still uncertain. The demand for him is steadily increasing.

It is known that after the end of the season, the head coach changed in Roma. The specialist who greatly influenced Eldor's professional growth and trusted him — Claudio Ranieri — has left the team. He was replaced by Gian Piero Gasperini, famous for his work with Atalanta. This, of course, leads to significant changes in the lineup. According to Italian football analysts, Gasperini intends to carry out reforms in the attack line first.

In such a situation, Turkish Super League clubs, who have long been interested in players who have shown themselves in Europe’s top leagues, are also not staying idle. According to gazetearena.com, one of Turkey’s famous clubs — Başakşehir — has started to seriously focus on Eldor Shomurodov as a candidate to strengthen their attack.

While clubs such as Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe, Beşiktaş, and Trabzonspor are busy forming their transfer lists, Başakşehir is said to have entered into direct negotiations with Shomurodov.

According to information, Eldor played 37 matches for Roma in the last season. In these games, he scored 7 goals and provided 5 assists. His scoring efficiency was one goal every 209 minutes, and taking into account that he did not play full time in many games, this indicator is considered quite good.

Shomurodov’s football interest was formed at the “Mash’al” academy. Later, he shone at Bunyodkor and in 2017 moved to Russia’s Rostov. This transfer brought him to the international stage, and within three years, his transfer value increased from 750 thousand euros to 6.5 million euros. Later, in 2020, he became a Genoa player for 9.5 million euros. Two seasons later, Roma added him to their squad for 19.5 million euros.

Very few footballers in Uzbek football have achieved such a career. Eldor’s club successes, his great contribution to the national team, and 42 goals in 82 matches have made him the best striker in his homeland. The 1.90-meter-tall striker can play perfectly on both wings, as a central forward, and even in a two-striker system.

Currently, negotiations are ongoing between Başakşehir and the player's agents. Reports indicate that the likelihood of reaching an agreement between the parties is very high. The Turkish Super League may become a new challenge for the Uzbek star.

Thus, will Turkey be the next destination for Eldor Shomurodov, or will he remain in Italy? This will become clear soon. One thing is certain: whatever decision he makes, Uzbek fans will continue to support him.
