The well-known UFC fighter Arman Tsarukyan (22–3) wants to fight former lightweight champion Islam Makhachev (27–1). The intrigue around the fight art intensified again: through an open call-out of his opponent he once more displayed his ambitions.
According to Arman, the path to the goal is clear and sharp:
“If I become champion, I want to defend my title as often as possible. My aim is to become the greatest fighter in the world. My efforts must bring their result. I’m waiting for Makhachev at lightweight,” said Tsarukyan.
There are two key points in this statement: first, the intention not to stop at reaching the championship but to defend it frequently; second, the desire to share the octagon with Islam Makhachev specifically at lightweight. Such an appeal is expected to heat up the competition around the title even more.
For reference, Tsarukyan defeated Charles Oliveira on points at UFC 300. This victory allowed Arman to move up the rankings, open the path to the next super-fight, and show before the fans that he is even more ready for a big test.
Zamin.uz impression: the Tsarukyan–Makhachev confrontation could become one of the most interesting storylines in the lightweight division. Now the turn is with the promoters, the schedule and the rule-set — while fans await the big clash.
