In the English Premier League, the summer transfer window will remain open for another 10 days, but the championship has already managed to set a new record. According to BBC, league clubs have registered a historic figure during this period.
According to the data, EPL teams have spent a total of £2.37 billion. This surpassed the previous record — £2.36 billion set in the summer of 2023. In other words, in terms of transfers, the English championship has once again strengthened its status as the most expensive market in Europe.
One of the latest major deals contributed to breaking the record. In particular, the transfer of Swiss striker Noah Okafor from “Milan” to “Leeds” for £18 million became the decisive factor in surpassing this threshold.
It was also reported that six EPL clubs have already broken their own historical records. That is, they spent more on transfers than ever before in their history.
Experts emphasize that since there is still time before the window closes, the total spending may increase even further, and the record is likely to rise again.
