Portugal claimed late win over Hungary in WC qualifiers

Portugal defeated Hungary 3–2 in the 6th round of the European World Cup qualifiers. The match was held on September 9, 2025, at the Puskás Arena in Budapest with 68,976 spectators in attendance.

Bernardo Silva opened the scoring in the 36th minute, Cristiano Ronaldo added a second in the 58th, and João Cancelo netted the winning goal in the 86th minute for Portugal.

Hungary’s goals came from Barnabás Varga, who scored in the 21st and 84th minutes. The match was officiated by referee E. Lambrechts.
