Timur Kapadze: "Messages from Indonesian fans are pouring in"

Former head coach of the Uzbekistan national team, Timur Kapadze, responded to rumors linking him with Indonesia’s football federation. Speaking to Championat.asia, he confirmed hearing about Indonesia’s interest but emphasized that he has not yet received any official offer.

“I’ve read and heard the news about the Indonesian national team and their federation. My Instagram has been flooded with messages from Indonesian fans — they say they want to see me there. It’s a really pleasant feeling,” said Kapadze.

According to him, no official offer or talks have taken place yet. “So far, it’s all just media speculation. Still, I treat such interest with respect. Football is loved sincerely in Indonesia, and their fans are extremely passionate,” he added.

Kapadze also described the Indonesian national team as well-organized and disciplined. He noted that the country’s football infrastructure and league system have developed rapidly in recent years.

“The attention from Indonesian fans made me happy. It shows their deep love for football and loyalty to their national team. My focus right now is entirely on the Uzbekistan national team, but in the future, it’s natural to consider any professional opportunity,” said the coach.

Local media report that Indonesia’s football authorities will soon discuss the appointment of a new head coach, which has intensified the rumors surrounding Kapadze’s candidacy.

At the same time, he stressed that his main goal remains to continue with his team, take part in upcoming tournaments, and contribute to the development of national football.

Kapadze believes that such international attention is a positive signal for Uzbek football as a whole — it reflects growing trust in the competence and reputation of the country’s coaches.
