FIFA has responded to US President Donald Trump's statement that the 2026 World Cup could be moved from Boston to another city.
Earlier, the American leader said at a meeting with Boston Mayor Michelle Wu that the possibility of moving the competitions to another location was being considered due to unrest in the city.
According to FIFA officials, no changes are currently expected in this matter. The organization confirmed that all 16 host cities are continuing preparations in accordance with the plan.
"We are confident that every host city is capable of hosting the games at a high level. All stadiums and infrastructure will be fully compliant with FIFA standards. Our main goal is to guarantee the safety of players and fans. In this regard, we will work in close cooperation with government agencies," the organization's representative said.
FIFA emphasizes that security measures are an integral part of the competition, and this task is carried out by the host country's structures.
Boston is one of the host cities of the 2026 World Cup, with 7 matches planned to be played at the "Gillette Stadium" in Foxborough.
According to experts, FIFA's statement put an end to various rumors - the organization considers the preparation process to be stable and under control.
The 2026 World Cup will be held in the USA, Canada, and Mexico. It will be the first tournament in history to feature 48 teams, and FIFA has described it as a "new page in football history."
