Another shock has occurred in Italian football. Juve Stabia, a club participating in Serie B, has been arrested by the Italian anti-mafia prosecutor's office on charges of mafia involvement. According to the results of the investigation, the team's leadership was in close contact with two famous Camorra clans - the D'Alesandro and Imparato groups. Therefore, the club's activities were placed under judicial review.
This is the third, but most difficult and critical situation in the history of Italian football. Previously, similar situations occurred with "Fodja" and "Crotone" teams, but this time the scale and impact of the situation is much greater.
According to the investigation, the mafia interfered in almost all aspects of the club's life - from the security system to ticket sales, travel, and even the dining process. According to the prosecutor's office, the stadium's security was also managed by one of the people of the Imparato clan. At the same time, some clan members entered the games under false names and took seats in the stands with free tickets.
National Mafia Attorney Giovanni Melillo called "Yuve Stabia" a "structure completely subordinate to Camorra." According to him, the decisions in the club's activities were made by the mafia network:
"The players only played, and everything else was decided by Camorra," said the prosecutor.
This showed how deeply the exposed system had taken root. According to the investigation, although 38 fans were banned from entering the stadium last season, more than half of them were connected to the clan and circumvented the ban through internal assistance.
For this very reason, prosecutors assessed the club as a "completely mafia-controlled organization." This situation dealt a heavy blow to the reputation of Italian football.
The Italian Football Federation is currently conducting a thorough investigation into the situation. In particular, it was announced that the cancellation of the match against "Bari," which was supposed to take place on October 29, is being considered.
Interestingly, the team recently defeated Avellino 2-0, moving up to seventh place in the league table. Even dreams of getting into Serie A seemed close to reality. But after the accusations about the mafia, these dreams disappeared in an instant.
For information, in June 2025, the club "Yuve Stabia" was acquired by the Irish investment company "Brera Holdings" with a 52% share. However, according to investigators, the new owners were unable to break the already existing mafia chain in the club, and the corrupt system persisted in practice.
In Italy, this event caused widespread public discussion. According to local publications, the crisis surrounding Juve Stabia has once again exposed the problems in the control and transparency system not just for one team, but for all of Italian football.
