Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola commented ahead of a major historic milestone in his coaching career - the 1000th game. The Spanish manager will lead his team in an important Premier League match against Liverpool at the end of this week. This match will go down in history as the thousandth official match in Guardiola's career.
"As a coach, playing 1000 games is a huge feeling and at the same time a huge responsibility. When I started my career at Barcelona B, I couldn't even imagine reaching such a number. There was only one goal then - to do your job diligently, choose the right path in football, and make your team shine," Guardiola said in an interview with journalists.
According to him, luck and hard work accompanied him throughout his career.
"I was lucky - I had the honor of being at the head of three great clubs. At Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City, I always felt the confidence and support. I lived for football and the team, without any external pressure. "These years have been the brightest pages of my life," he said.
Guardiola also commented on the number of trophies he won:
"To be honest, I didn't even imagine that I would achieve so many victories. But this path was a wonderful experience for me. Every game, every competition was a new lesson, a new feeling for me. If I had the opportunity, I wouldn't miss a single moment of this trip," the coach said.
The Spanish specialist expressed gratitude to everyone who has been by his side for the past 18 years:
"It's difficult to list names one by one, but I sincerely thank everyone who worked with me - the footballer, the coaching staff, and the club staff. Also, my family, which supported me throughout my career, was my main strength and support."
Thus, Guardiola's thousandth game will remain in the pages of football history not only as a number, but also as a symbol of experience, hard work, and dedication throughout his career.
